Coastal Carolina University Rentals- How to reduce your deposit

Prepare a list of references and past landlord that will recommend you as a quality tenant. Make sure you ask them before you start having your potential landlord call.

Allow your potential landlord to make an visit to your property to show the condition you keep it in. They may want to make an unannounced visit so you just don't clean up that one time they come over.

Trade services for a reduction in security deposit. If you see that a room needs to be painted offer to do the work yourself if the landlord will take it off your security deposit.

Sign a longer term lease. If you have good rental history signing a longer lease than the standard one year may make your new landlord think about lowering your security deposit. if you have stayed at previous residences longer than a year already it gives you even more credibility.
